XLLENT SHOES Fall '09

All of these shoes are from Xllent Shoes’ 2009 inaugural fall collection. The first two shoes are called the Mandee and the third one is the Rihanna and the final one is the Skully. The outsoles are made from recycled leather and the line is created by Lawrence “Xl” Gay who discovered his love of footwear design while working as a mail handler at Nine West. After a series of promotions which led Mr. Gay to become part of Nine West’s product development team he decided to start XL Connections, a wholesale company selling his shoes and shoes from other designers. In 2005,
Lawrence decided to focus on creating his own shoes and closed his retail and wholesale business. Also, in 2008 he created the Rox and Riley line for Heatherette designer Richie Rich and Xllent Shoes debuted at Richie Rich’s NY Fashion Week Fall ’09 show. Mr. Gay has also designed for Steve Madden, Nine West, Foremost Footwear and BCNY International in the past.
